Looking for a fun exercise challenge to get you and your friends off the couch and into the game?

How about getting a team together for a 5K? You’ve got until May 19 to get ready.

As anyone that has ever run a 5K can tell you, it’s a huge motivator to know that you are not only doing yourself some good, you’re serving a bigger cause.

Early bird registration is now open for the Selfless Service 5K on May 19 in Hurricane, which raises money for StandWatch Academy, and the Hershel Woody Williams Medal of Honor Foundation for the Gold Star Family Memorial at the West Virginia State Capitol Complex.

StandWatch create ways for veterans and members of the military to work with their fellow Americans on projects that make the world a better place.

The goal of the Hershel Woody Williams Medal of Honor Foundation is to establish permanent Gold Star Families Memorial Monuments in communities throughout the country.

A t-shirt will be given to anyone that registers before May 15. All 5k finishers will receive a Rally Point dog tag.

Local organizers are seeking teams to enter and run together, a great opportunity for fun and fitness for you and your work colleagues, crew of friends, school group or local club.

Learn more about the event, register, or contact the organizer.
