WV CHW Workforce Survey

WV CHW Workforce Survey

Purpose of Survey:  Nationally, very broad populations are being served by CHWs in the areas of health, mental health, and social services, with diversity of roles, job responsibilities, and duties that vary with the host agencies. The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM) Center for Rural and Community Health (CRCH) has established an advisory consortium from various stakeholders around the state to collectively work together as an advising body offering guidance and opportunities to increase the utility of CHWs, especially in underserved and isolated areas of the state. Since there has been a national surge in CHW programs, including research, reimbursement, evidence-based programs, and an initiative to have a national standard within the CHW field as informed by the Community Health Worker Core Consensus (C3) Project, the WVSOM Center for Rural and Community Health is initiating this survey to assess the CHW workforce environment throughout West Virginia. We are conducting this survey to gain a better understanding of the work CHWs are doing, where they serve, and other specific components related to CHWs in West Virginia.  This survey will provide an initial review and offer data for informed decision-making to support the growing CHW workforce in West Virginia.  The WV CHW Advisory Consortium will convene to review the survey results and offer guidance pertaining to the community health workforce and scope of practice in West Virginia. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions you may have.
