Geriatrics Academic Career Award (GACA) Program

New Funding Opportunity Available!

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, through the Health Resources and Services Administration, has announced the availability of $2.1 million to support the career development of individual junior faculty in geriatrics at accredited health professions schools and programs and accredited graduate chaplaincy programs.

Geriatrics Academic Career Award Program: HRSA-23-007: To support the career development of junior faculty as academic geriatricians or academic geriatrics specialists, the Geriatrics Academic Career Award (GACA) Program aims to,

  • develop the necessary knowledge and skills to lead health care transformation in a variety of settings, including rural and/or medically underserved settings;
  • be age-friendly; and
  • provide training in clinical geriatrics, including the training of interprofessional teams of healthcare professionals to provide healthcare for older adults.

Eligible applicants include accredited health professions schools or graduate programs, accredited graduate programs in health administration and behavioral health and mental health practice, and accredited schools or programs of chaplaincy. See the funding opportunity for complete eligibility information.

HRSA will award approximately $2.1 million to up to 26 grantees for four years.
