Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online request system is slow to process my form. What should I do?
A1.
The Nurse Corps is aware that the Department of Education is experiencing delays in processing FAFSA forms. The current wait time can range from 3 business days to 3 business weeks when submitted online. Unfortunately, this delay is out of Nurse Corps’ control. Please focus on gathering your documentation, requesting letters of recommendation, and preparing your essay, while you wait for your FAFSA form.

Q2. My FAFSA form is still processing. Can I upload my FAFSA form from last year? Or an estimate of my Student Aid Report?
A2. No. You must upload your complete 2024-2025 complete Student Aid Report for your application to be considered complete. Your application will be deemed ineligible if you upload a FAFSA form from 2023-2024 or earlier, an estimated or incomplete Student Aid Report.

Q3. What nursing degree programs are eligible for this scholarship?
A3.
You are eligible for this scholarship if you are enrolled or enrolling in a Registered Nurse program (ADN, BSN, ABSN, MN) or Nurse Practitioner program (Direct Entry Masters-NP, MSN-NP or DNP) that will begin classes no later than September 30, 2024.

Q4. Would I qualify for a scholarship under the Career Pathways category?
A4.
You would qualify if you are enrolled or enrolling in a Registered Nurse degree program and currently hold one of the following professional licenses: CNA, CHW, MHA, SHA, HHA, MA, or LPN.

Q5. I have already completed some of my nursing program. Does this scholarship reimburse me for the year(s) I already completed?
A5.
The scholarship does not reimburse for previous years of schooling. Funding for this year’s contracts will only apply to tuition payments incurred on or after July 1, 2024.

Q6. If my classes begin in the summer, will Nurse Corps pay for those courses?
A6.
Yes. Nurse Corps will only pay tuition and required fees for required courses in summer school sessions when: (a) summer school is an academic term normally required by the school for all students in the same program, and (b) the summer session is in progress during the contract period of participants (i.e., through July 1, 2024.)

Q6. Can my letters of recommendation be written by two non-academic or two academic recommenders?
A6. We require two separate letters of recommendation: an academic letter of recommendation and a non-academic letter of recommendation. If you are unable to find a sufficient recommender for either an academic or non-academic letter, you can submit two academic or two non-academic letters. What is most important is that you submit two letters of recommendation.
