Funding Opportunity: Children’s Hospitals Graduate Medical Education (CHGME) Payment Program

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) released a new Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to improve health outcomes and achieve health equity through access to quality services, a skilled health workforce, and innovative, high-value programs.

The Children’s Hospitals Graduate Medical Education (CHGME) Payment Program funds freestanding children’s hospitals to support the training of pediatric and other residents in graduate medical education programs.

HRSA anticipates awarding $365 million to up to 62 grantees over a period of one year through this funding opportunity.

Eligible Applicants:

• Currently Eligible Hospitals
• Newly Qualified Hospitals

Hospitals applying for the first time for the CHGME Payment Program may be hospitals that are new to the CHGME Payment Program but qualify under the “Currently Eligible Hospitals” requirements prior to the Children’s Hospital GME Support Reauthorization Act of 2013 or are eligible as a “Newly Qualified Hospital” under the requirements per the Children’s Hospital GME Support Reauthorization Act of 2013.

Application Submission:

The application process for this NOFO has two phases.

• Phase 1 involves submitting an application through Grants.gov by 11:59 p.m. ET on July 14, 2023.

• Phase 2 involves submitting program specific forms into Electronic Handbooks (EHB) by 5:00 p.m. ET on August 17, 2023.

Applicants must meet the Phase 1 deadline in order to proceed to Phase 2.
