Dr. Katherine Calloway is Leading WVRHA with Heart and Vision
We’re proud to launch our Board Member Spotlight Series: Meet the Mountain Movers by introducing the incredible leader at the helm of WVRHA: Dr. Katherine Calloway.
A dedicated physician, public health leader, and global health advocate, Dr. Calloway brings deep experience and even deeper heart to her role as Board President. She’s served in Kosovo, Mozambique, India, and beyond—but her strongest connection remains right here in West Virginia.
“My grandfather, Dr. Marvin Houck, was the sole physician to the Carbon Fuel coal camp in Cabin Creek, WV from 1934 to 1982,” she shares. “Growing up, I saw his dedication firsthand—he was everyman’s physician. That legacy drives me every day.”
Dr. Calloway is passionate about uniting healthcare professionals across disciplines and county lines. “WVRHA gives us a platform to turn crisis into opportunity—whether it’s the opioid epidemic, foster care, or clean water access—and build solutions that work for West Virginians.”
Outside of her many professional roles, she’s a mother of three, a hospice and palliative care advocate, and a lover of the outdoors. And here’s a fun fact you might not expect: she spent her early years performing with the Charleston Light Opera Guild.
We’re honored to have Dr. Calloway leading the way as we continue building a healthier, more connected West Virginia.
