Communities Talk to Prevent Alcohol and Other Drug Misuse: Launching New Cycle in 2024!

Tuesday, December 12, 2023, 2 – 3 p.m. ET

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is launching its next round of Communities Talk to Prevent Alcohol and Other Drug Misuse in January and invites you to join us to explore how this flagship initiative can help you showcase your community-based prevention programming.

Communities Talk supports communities in their efforts to raise public awareness about the harmful consequences of alcohol and other substance use among youth and young adults while also mobilizing action to implement evidence-based prevention strategies.

Since its inception, Communities Talk has supported thousands of local organizations’ prevention activities, ranging from social media, television, radio, and print campaigns to webinars and virtual event, to in-person health fairs and community gatherings.

Join us on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, from 2 to 3 p.m. ET, to learn how your community can use Communities Talk to support your local prevention efforts, hear what the 2024 cycle has to offer and how to register to host an event, and check out the experiences of past Communities Talk organizers through their success stories and campaign resources.

Featured presenters:

  • CAPT Chris Jones, Director, SAMHSA’s Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP)
  • Marion Pierce, SAMHSA/CSAP
  • Communities Talk hosts from around the country
