This session will discuss the challenges of caregiving in Indian Country, showcase efforts of the International Association for Indigenous Aging (IA²) in the area of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and feature tribal aging resources from IA².

Objectives:

• Provide an overview of the national Healthy Brain Initiative
• Discuss a project funded by the U.S. Department of Justice to prevent tribal elders with dementia from wandering
• Highlight the Dementia Friends program for American Indian and Alaska Native communities
